Below are some places where there are panoramic views on Long Island
Northport, NY
Near downtown Northport there is a panoramic views are a short walk or bike away. The views are from residential streets and they are stunning. The views are irregular for most of Long Island and that is why I am sharing them here. From Main Street you turn onto ocean avenue and eventually you can't miss these spots. If you want more time to take these in I recommend walking or biking. There might be some street parking nearby though.
Exact Location:
-The corner of Steers Avenue and Ocean Avenue
-Ocean Avenue from Steers Avenue and Eatons Neck Avenue there is a grassy area on top of a large hill where you can sit and see the panoramic view.
-James Street toward the Ocean Avenue half of it
Pirates Cove in McCallister County Park: on top of the tall sand dunes there is a 360 degree view of the Long Island sound, the cove, Port Jeff harbor, Connecticut, Belle Terre and the surrounding area.
Memorial Park in Sea Cliff
This is a small part at the end of the Main Street in Sea Cliff the view looks out onto the water from up high and has a bit of panoramic optical effect
Belle Terre Cliff
Not necessarily panoramic but the view is vast and breathtaking here. It is at the end of the main road in Belle Terre, NY. It is right next to a secluded traffic circle where parking is not allowed. To get here you can pull over for a short minute to see the view although there is the risk of getting a ticket. You can also get here from McCallister Park/Pirate's Cove by hiking up the main sand dune and following the trails on the shore line. Another option is to ride you bike to this location or take an uber if you are really motivated.
Levy Park
The view here is excellent. While the elevation is artificial the park covers it well. An easy trail wind up a hill that was once a part of a land fill, but now it gives you a view of Manhattan and other tall landmarks on Long Island as you look out from Merrick, NY.
Camp Hero State Park
The view here is extremely great and mind bending... there is a parking lot near the entrance of the park where you can take a short walk to a patch of grass with an overlook of the Atlantic Ocean. Below you will be steep, tall cliffs slowly eroding.. but the view sucks you in and the vastness of the ocean if made more obvious to you. The carved edifices in the cliff are sculpture like and you can even see the Montauk light house from there.
